Chapter 03 · Understanding color

Color is not quality.

Three Colors. Different Journeys. One Korina 420 Standard. Light gold, amber, and black gold are distinct expressions of rosin — not a ranking of cannabis quality.

Color is not quality. Three colors, different journeys, one Korina 420 Standard — K-1 Live Rosin, K-2 Amber and K-3 Black Gold cartridges with the reasons rosin color can differ.

K-1 · Live Rosin

Light golden color

K-2 · Amber

K-3 · Black Gold

Dark color

Why the color can be different

Color reflects the input material and processing — not a higher or lower quality.

01

Plant variety

Different strains and phenotypes naturally produce different color profiles.

02

Fresh vs cured

Fresh frozen material often produces lighter rosin, while cured material tends to be darker.

03

Level of pre-processing

Additional processing steps (e.g., washing, filtering, concentrating) can result in darker rosin and higher production costs.

04

Nutrient content

Darker rosin often contains more plant compounds and nutrients, but color alone is not a measure of quality, potency, or purity.

What makes the difference?

Three factors. One answer.

Plant material.

Different varieties and starting materials can naturally produce different colors.

Preparation.

Freshness, handling, and preprocessing can change the appearance and production requirements.

Production cost.

Different inputs and preparation steps affect cost — not necessarily the quality of the finished rosin.

The Korina view

All three Korina 420 products are 100% solventless rosin, certified under the NoPetroChem standard.

The differences are primarily in the input material and the amount of pre-processing required, which affects the production cost — not the quality of the cannabis. Appearance can also reflect pigments, oxidation, and processing conditions. Lighter is not automatically purer, and darker is not automatically more nutritious or potent.
